The Royal Northern College of Music
UZIN systems were used to install the new floors at The Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester, as part of a £7.1m redevelopment to support higher student numbers and provide professional learning.

The 40 year old Concert Hall was refurbished along with the backstage areas, including new changing rooms, en-suite dressing rooms as well as laundry rooms and wardrobe. A student deck, seminar room, conference room, new practice pods and Lecture Theatre were also created as part of the prestigious project.
The flooring sub-contractor, iFloor UK Limited conducted a considerable amount of mechanical subfloor preparation across 1500 square metres and installed new floor coverings across two floors. iFloor chose UZIN due to their fail safe systems and ability to provide solutions for the installation of several different types of floor coverings. The RNCM is also committed to providing the highest standards of safety, so required an environmentally friendly and low emission solution for the renovation.
A combination of low emission and EC1 Plus products were therefore used for the redevelopment. UZIN PE 414 Turbo DPM, UZIN NC 170 smoothing compound and UZIN RR 201 repair mesh, were first used to damp proof and reinforce the substrate. UZIN SC 980 rapid setting screed was also used to infill 6 nr steel staircases. Different UZIN adhesives were then used to install a variety of floor coverings such UZIN MK 200 to install the wood flooring within the Concert Hall.
The modern facilities at the RNCM were opened in November 2014 and the new flooring helps contribute to the beautiful and creative environment.
