Installation of up to 200 years old antique wooden floorboards
Where once halves of beef hung, today it smells of fresh bread. In Rothenburg ob der Tauber, the old slaughterhouse was converted into a restaurant. The interior design combines industrial elements with a modern design. The up to 200 years old antique wooden floorboards made the highest demands on the parquet layer and the products he used.

"The special thing about such antique woods is that each plank has a different width, is actually always warped and somehow irregular,"
reports Lars Wildermann, parquet layer and employee of Uffenheimer Parkett.
This is due to the special individuality of the raw material. The laying quickly becomes a game of patience: "Sometimes a laid layer has to be completely replaced because a single plank does not fit at the end". Only premium installation materials can therefore be used for such demanding installation work. The subfloor of the previously renovated building was first levelled with the self-levelling cement levelling compound UZIN NC 170 over the entire surface of 330 m² in 2-5 mm layer thickness. The particular advantage of UZIN NC 170 lies in the combination of high strength, excellent processing properties, good absorbency and fast drying. The latter were carried out with the premium parquet adhesive Uzin MK 250. A special adhesive toothing provides the necessary application quantity. This adhesive impresses especially with its long insertion time. This was particularly beneficial for the demanding installation of the antique planks. The installer was thus able to adapt the differently shaped planks in the adhesive bed for a particularly long time, thus ensuring an optimum installation result. The hard adhesive grooves also limit wood deformation and thus support the optically perfect installation pattern.
The result also convinced the client and the architect. "I find it fascinating to integrate wood that is up to 200 years old into a modern design concept," says Fischer. "It also harmonizes perfectly with the products of UZIN and Pallmann," adds architect Christian Ludwig. "It is simply a great pleasure to be able to rely absolutely on the products for underbody preparation, bonding and surface treatment".
